Methodist theological students at Edgehill College, Belfast (1935)

A complete index to all those who have served in any branch of Methodism in Ireland, for however long or short a period, from 1747 to the present, is now available through the History Online/Ministers tab.

The first Wesleyan Methodist itinerant preachers arrived in Ireland in the late 1740s and all known itinerants/ministers since then, as recorded in the various Minutes of Conference have been listed. The branches of Methodism included are: Wesleyan, Methodist New Connexion, Primitive Wesleyan, (English) Primitive Methodists, and Wesleyan Methodist Association.

There are approximately 2,300 names on the index, giving the year of entry and (if the the minister left or emigrated) their departure. For those who have died their years of birth and death, where know, are also listed.
