The collections of the Methodist Historical Society of Ireland range from printed records of annual conferences of the Methodist Church in Ireland and records of local churches, including baptism and marriage registers to the letters and journals of individual pioneer preachers to collections of items such as photographs, medals, portraits, busts and other memorabilia of Irish Methodist heritage.
MHSI’s library contains a wealth of published material, including books, pamphlets, serials, and newspapers.
Our collections span from the eighteenth through to the twenty-first centuries, and they touch on numerous topics, from religious and social issues as the Methodist movement was growing in Ireland to more recent times as tensions emerged during a period of ecumenical activity and civil unrest in Northern Ireland. While our collections generally focus on Ireland we also have books and manuscripts of those who served in other countries of world Methodism.
