Digitisation Grant Awarded to MHSI Archives

In May 2021 the Heritage Council of Ireland awarded the Methodist Historical Society of Ireland a grant of €15,000. This was used to fund the second phase of a major project to digitise over 150 years of Irish Methodist periodicals from 1859 to 2015. This process not only preserves the original documents for the future but means they can be viewed and searched online. The originals are held at the MHSI Archives in Belfast. The scanning and hosting of the pages is by the specialist Dublin company, Informa. The first phase of the project of scanning the Christian Advocate from 1883-1923 was the first to be completed, and was followed by the digitisation of the Irish Christian Advocate 1923-1971 and the monthly Methodist Newsletter 1972-2015. These scanned and searchable issues have been uploaded and are available online through the search engine: https://esearch.informa.ie/mhsi/
